Castle Adamant
Princess Ida decides that men are little more than monkeys in suits,
and retreats to Castle Adamant to run a womens college. The men first
infiltrate, then invade, the castle. This is the only three act G&S opera.
Princess Ida opened on January 5, 1884, at the Savoy Theatre and
ran for 246 performances.
