Princess Ida

Princess Ida

or

Castle Adamant

Princess Ida decides that men are little more than monkeys in suits, and retreats to Castle Adamant to run a women’s college. The men first infiltrate, then invade, the castle. This is the only three act G&S opera.

Princess Ida opened on January 5, 1884, at the Savoy Theatre and ran for 246 performances.
